Holiday song inspires the winning entry in community parade

A traditional holiday song inspired the winning entry by the Williamsburg Ward in the annual Williamsburg Area Community Parade Dec. 6.

"Over the River and Through the Woods to Grandmother's House We Go" was the title of the float. It won the general floats category. The float featured a replica of a house, occupied by three "grandmas," three women in the ward. Children, youth and parents participated, carrying presents of muffs, scarves, toys, leashed puppies, a live goose bundled in a Christmas quilt, a live goat, wagons and sleds.

Four full-time missionaries marched in front of the float with a banner hand stitched with the Church's name.

"It is great for us to be a small part of the Williamsburg festivities, and to be the `best' of that small part," said Sandi Hirz, a ward member who suggested the idea for the parade entry.
