Where in the scriptures does the expression "spare the rod and spoil the child" appear?
Here's answer to week's question
Nowhere in holy writ does the expression "spare the rod and spoil the child" appear. A scriptural verse that might be regarded as similar to it is Prov. 13:24, "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes."
"Spare the rod and spoil the child" is an English proverb borrowed from the Latin and traced to about 1000 A.D.
