What did John the Revelator mean when he used the word "admiration" in his description of the "woman drunken with the blood of the saints" in Rev. 17:6?

According to the footnote to the word "admiration" in Rev. 17:6, the Greek translation is "astonishment, wonder." The Bible Dictionary gives further explanation: "Wonder, astonishment, or amazement, with no implication of esteem or approval."
