The Relief Society music director conducts a five-minute music period every Sunday during the Relief Society meeting. The music period is not held on Fast Sunday because the time is allotted for testimony bearing. Suggested ideas for the music period include learning hymns, teaching musical skills, listening to good music and discussing its qualities, studying the music of great composers, singing in parts, and discussing the use of music in the home.
The director also tells members about musical and cultural opportunities in the Church and community.- Relief Society Handbook, p. 20
