Church News: Question of the week

About how many converts from overseas crossed the ocean in sailing vessels in the 19th century?

Here's answer to week's question

About 50,000 Latter-day Saint converts crossed the Atlantic Ocean in sailing vessels from 1840-1890. The largest of these ships was a clipper ship, the Monarch of the Sea, 1,979 tons and 223 feet long, not quite as long as a Boeing 747. Another 35,000 crossed the ocean in steamships before 1890.
