New mission presidents

Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. The new mission presidents and their assignments are:

Elbert M. Dansie, 63, France Marseille Mission; Wasatch 7th Ward, Salt Lake Wasatch Stake; teacher development trainer; former high councilor, stake Young Men president, bishop, high priests group leader and instructor, Scoutmaster, and missionary in the French Mission; pediatrician; received bachelor's degree in French and medical degree from the University of Utah; born in Murray, Utah, to Marvin E. and Thelma Sarah Beckstead Dansie; married Shanna Cheshire, six children. She is stake Relief Society president; former Primary president and counselor, Relief Society president, Young Women president's counselor, Primary and Relief Society teacher; received bachelor's degree in education from the University of Utah; born in Salt Lake City to Richard R. and Bernice Facer Cheshire.- Jorge Granados H., 53, Mexico Tijuana Mission; Viveros Ward, Mexico City Mexico Tlalnepantla Stake; stake mission president; former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop, high priests group leader, and missionary with his wife in the Mexico Oaxaca Mission; medical assessor; received veterinary medicine degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and a license in marketing management from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico; born in Anganguea, Mexico, to Jose Piedad Granados M. and Maria Del Carmen Hernandez L. de Granados; married Marina Torres R., two children. She is a Primary teacher; former Relief Society president and counselor, Primary president, Relief Society teacher, and missionary with her husband in the Mexico Oaxaca Mission; received a nursing degree; born in Mexico City to Luis Torres A. and Ignacia Rangel O. de Torres.

Steven R. Leishman, 52, Korea Pusan Mission; Logan 9th Ward, Logan Utah Cache Stake; stake president's counselor; former high councilor, bishop and counselor, Young Men adviser, elders quorum president's counselor, priests quorum adviser, and missionary in the Korean Mission; sales representative for Legrand Johnson Construction Company; studied history and business at Utah State University; born in Logan, Utah, to Ray Williamson and Cyrena Hall Brenchley Leishman; married Lorene Larsen, four children. She is Relief Society president; former stake and ward Young Women president, Young Women and Relief Society teacher, and inservice director; received bachelor's degree in English from Utah State University; born in Logan, Utah, to Leland K. and Viola Buist Larsen.

A. Keith Martin, 60, Minnesota Minneapolis Mission; Eugene 7th Ward, Eugene Oregon Stake; deacons quorum adviser; former regional representative, welfare services agent, stake president, high councilor, member of the Oregon Public Affairs Council, bishop, priests quorum adviser, and nursery leader; attorney; received bachelor's degree in political science and economics from BYU and law degree from the UCLA Law School; born in San Francisco, Calif., to A. James and Helen Krumperman Martin; married Geraldine Pankhurst, four children. She is a Relief Society president's counselor; former member of the stake Primary board, Relief Society president and secretary, Primary president's counselor, Primary inservice leader and teacher, nursery leader, Relief Society teacher, and family records extractor; attended BYU and Lethbridge Secretarial College; born in Lethbridge, Alberta, to Ernest Jack and Leah Charlotte Payne Pankhurst.

Douglas R. McKinlay, 54, Arizona Tucson Mission; West Hartford Ward, Hartford Connecticut Stake; mission president's counselor; former regional representative, stake president and counselor, stake executive secretary, high councilor, Young Men president, and elders quorum president; president and owner of McKinlay & Partners Inc.; received bachelor's degree in marketing and advertising, and master's degree in mass communications from BYU; born in Orem, Utah, to Lynn A. and Asenath Passey McKinlay; married Betty Jo Vance, six children. She is stake public affairs director and stake activities committee chairman; former stake Relief Society president's counselor, Primary president, Relief Society president, Young Women president, seminary teacher, public affairs director, and Sunday School teacher; received bachelor's degree in elementary education from BYU and master's degree in organizational behavior from the University of Hartford Barney School of Business; born in Reno, Nev., to Ronald Alma and Helen Fern Haight Colovich Vance.

Eder L. Ontiveros L., 43, Argentina Rosario Mission; Benemerito 8th Ward, Mexico City Mexico Zarahemla Stake; stake president; former stake president, high councilor, stake clerk, bishop and counselor, and missionary in the Mexico City Mexico Mission; Church Educational System administrative assistant; born in Colonia Dublan, Mexico, to Nefi Ontiveros A. and Delfina Lara C. de Ontiveros; married Elsa Gonzalez P., six children. She is Relief Society president; former stake Relief Society secretary, Young Women president, Relief Society president's counselor and teacher, Primary president's counselor; Young Women and Primary teacher, and seminary teacher, born in Yepachic, Mexico, to Juan Antonio Gonzalez M. and Ines Pena G. de Gonzalez.

P. Lyn Thompson, 57, Finland Helsinki Mission; Oak Hills Ward, Bountiful Utah Central Stake; former high councilor, temple worker, bishop and counselor, Sunday School and Young Men teacher, high priests group leader, guide and host on Temple Square, and missionary in the Finnish Mission; orthopedic surgeon; received medical degree from the University of Utah; born in Salt Lake City to Monte Cleon and Elizabeth Evans Thompson; married Helen Harker, six children. She is serving in the Young Women; former Scouting advancement chairman, Young Women worker, and Relief Society teacher; received registered nursing degree from Ricks College; born in Salt Lake City to John Ray and Frances Myrtle Denney Harker.

Vicente Verta Jr., 42, Brazil Manaus Mission; Pocos de Caldas 2nd Branch, Sao Joao da Boa Vista Brazil Stake; mission president's counselor; former stake president and counselor, bishop, and construction missionary in Brazil; accountant; received a master's degree in business administration from the University of Sciences, Administration and Accounting, and law degree from the University of Sao Joao da Boa Vista; born in Sao Vicente, Brazil, to Vicente and Olinda dos Santos Verta; married Jucirema Fernandes, four children. She is Primary president; former Young Women president and Relief Society teacher; received a certificate in music teaching from the College of Music of Santos and a certificate in artistic education from the College of Artistic Education; born in Santos, Brazil, to Celso Costa and Deyze Iozzi Fernandes.
