A six-week public open house at the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple in American Fork, Utah, has been announced by the First Presidency. The open house will be from Aug. 10 through Sept. 21.
After the open house, the temple will be dedicated Oct. 13-19. In order to accommodate as many of the 131,000 members of the Church in the 41 stakes of the temple district, 27 separate dedicatory sessions will be held.The temple will be the 49th operating temple in 29 countries. Another 14 temples have been announced and are in various stages of planning or construction.
Plans for the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple were announced in October 1992, and ground was broken a year later. The temple is situated on a 17-acre site on the east bench of American Fork. It has some 104,000 square feet of floor area and a statue of the Angel Moroni stands atop the building's lone tower.
