I was at the family history library, working on my mother's line, when I came upon some familiar names. I felt I had seen them somewhere before. I pulled out my binder of family history records, which I had done earlier on my husband's side. I discovered that his mother's people blended with my mother's people and that they appeared to be direct ancestors on both our sides.
Upon returning home, I announced to my children that I had discovered that, back several generations, I was related to their father. The children were delighted as I was with this interesting news. When my husband came home that evening, our son, ran out to meet him. Joyfully he greeted his dad. "Guess what Daddy," he said. "We're related to you!"
