The conference's concluding session was captivating as its first session. Held on a warm autumn afternoon, the Tabernacle and the surrounding grounds were filled with the faithful. A young girl, excited to be in the Tabernacle for conference, exclaimed, "I have never been this close before." As the session drew to a close, President Gordon B. Hinckley rose to speak. In the open doorways, people outside pressed forward to see as well as hear. His closing remarks were delivered to an extremely attentive, appreciative congregation. As he expressed his love for the members with deep emotion, his tears were followed by those of many others.

President James E. Faust conducted. Music was provided by the Tabernacle Choir, directed by Jerold D. Ottley and accompanied by Richard Elliott. Invocation was by Elder Jack H Goaslind, benediction by Elder Bruce C. Hafen, both of the Seventy.
