For family home evening we had a lesson on Ephesians, chapter 6 - putting on the whole armor of God. Our oldest son stood on a pedestal as we dressed him in cardboard and tin foil armor, and labeled each part as we read the chapter.
The positive outcome of this home evening was a family motto: "Keep your armor on." As the children left the house each day we would remind them to "Keep your armor on." We were amazed at the effectiveness and success of this lesson in our family. But we didn't understand just how successful the lesson had been until one day when our 4-year-old son was a bit grumpy. Our 6-year-old daughter, having heard enough, placed her hands on her hips, and said, "What's the matter Thomas, is your armor on inside out?"
