Church News: Death

C. Bryant Whiting, 93, president of the Arizona Temple from 1970-75, died Dec. 13, 1997, at Springerville, Ariz. Born in Mormon Colonia Diaz in Mexico, he left Mexico with his family during the Mexican revolution in 1912 and settled in Springerville. He served as bishop, stake president's counselor and stake president, and was one of the Church's original regional representatives.

He also served as state senator, helped sponsor the incorporation of Springerville and served as its first mayor.
