Father, son lead stakes

The Church office in Sydney is having a hard time separating mail for Steven Palm and his son, Adrian Palm - each a stake president, set apart on the same day.

Adrian Palm was serving as president of the Perth Australia Southern River Stake when the stake was divided. He was then called as president of the newly created Perry Australia Rockingham Stake. His father, Steven Palm, succeeded him as president of the Perth Southern River Stake. Now having two President Palms serving in two stakes in Western Australia is almost too much for the Church office in Sydney. Both the Palms are constantly getting each other's mail.

"It is confusing for the Church office," said Pres. Steven Palm. "I just say, `Hey, you have the wrong Palm.' "

Steven Palm, who has served as a bishop, stake president's counselor and a stake patriarch - said his call to serve as stake president came as a great shock. "I felt really overwhelmed, I am not an administrative-type person," he said.

But he and his son say they are happy to serve the Lord in any way they are asked. They look forward to continued Church growth in their country.

Pres. Adrian Palm - a former bishop's counselor, high priests group leader and high councilor - said there are immensurable blessings that come from Church service.

The Palms see each other almost daily. They work together and their Church offices are in the same building.

The older Pres. Palm has even come to his son with a few questions about his new job. "We bump into each other a lot, and he asks where he can find one thing or another in his desk," said the younger Pres. Palm.
