Living by the scriptures

For with God nothing shall be impossible. - Luke 1:37.

My young son asked me to help him find a scripture for Primary. We looked for something that could be easily memorized and found this scripture. I printed it on my home computer for him and left a copy lying on my desk.

A few months later my oldest son received his mission call to Guatemala. Preparation for his mission was not without difficulty. We were tested and felt that Satan was trying to defeat our efforts.

We had a heavy rain storm and due to problems a few days before, our roof was lacking some shingles. The rain went into our upstairs room, soaking our things up there, then went through the floor of that room and into the garage. My husband and son tried to repair the leak in the pouring rain while the rest of us worked to keep damage to our possessions to a minimum. There was despair, turmoil, tension and bad feelings in our home that night.

Later, I went to do some work at my computer, and I noticed the scripture that I had printed months before. I read it, then read it again, and somehow I knew my Heavenly Father was telling me that things were going to be all right. It gave me renewed strength to try to get things in my home back in order and not to give up.

My son has since had struggles during his mission in Guatemala and I have written and told him to remember this scripture to help and to comfort him.

I hung the scripture on my computer desk where I can see it every day. It gives me hope and strength when I need it and helps me remember that the Lord will always help us through our trials whatever they may be.
