Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. - Prov. 3:5-6.
During a testimony meeting, a young man who would soon be leaving for his mission stood and related his feelings about accepting his call. He was excited to be leaving. He also expressed his feelings of knowing the gospel of Jesus Christ as being true. He was ready to share the truth as Jesus had taught.
As I sat listening, I told myself, "As soon as I retire, I'll go on a mission." No sooner had the thought of my determination gone through my mind than the Spirit revealed to me the words, "Go now." I repeated the words several times over in my mind. I felt overwhelmed but I knew I'd heard those words. "I must accept it, I am needed in the mission field now."
I am a convert to the Church, and the only member in my family. This decision means putting my vocation and my worldly cares aside. The Lord sees me as being fit to be one of His missionaries and I am humbled. These words in Proverbs have become my strength and energy. Our Heavenly Father doesn't let us down when we rely on Him. He assisted me while I prepared to leave for my mission and He has continued to be with me every moment and mile of the way. He has blessed me with the strength and courage to do the work and to feel good about myself through it all.
