Members of the Orange California Stake are sponsoring an opera-style musical to commemorate the sesquicentennial. A cast of some 100, with Miss Utah 1982 Jonelle Goddard Caudill in the lead, will perform "Joy in the Journey" July 17-19, 26.
The musical follows the story of a convert pioneer family from Sweden in its journey to the Salt Lake Valley. Stake Pres. Steve Hanson is the great-great-grandson of the central character of the production. Stake member Susan Waldrip wrote and composed the original play and music.
