A pre-conference re-enactment of a handcart trek with about 50 members participating helped open a recent Altoona Pennsylvania Stake conference.
The event, sponsored by the Altoona Ward with assistance from the State College Ward, was held on a Saturday morning with conference meetings beginning that afternoon.The trekkers received official approval to travel over about five miles of an 11-mile Rails-to-Trails route along the Juniata River near Altoona.
As they finished their journey, they were met at Mt. Etna by a banner declaring "This Is the Place."
