In celebration of the pioneer sesquicentennial year, our family hung a bulletin board on a wall in our home. Each month we post the picture of a "pioneer ancestor of the month" on the board. These ancestors are then spotlighted in family home evening and their pioneer story retold.
The first few months of the year, I happened to pick grandmothers to honor for our pioneer heritage. One day as my 6-year-old daughter passed by the bulletin board she stopped, then turned and asked if all our pioneer relatives are "an-sisters" or if we have any "an-brothers," also.
