Church News: About the cover

Architect's model shows view from the south across Temple Square of the Church's new assembly building. Ground was broken for the new building, which will feature rooftop gardens and a 21,000-seat meeting hall, on July 24. President Gordon B. Hinckley presided and was accompanied by his counselors, President Thomas S. Monson and President James E. Faust. The building was announced by President Hinckley in April 1996 general conference and is expected to be completed in time for April conference of the year 2000. See story on page 3.
