Monument honors Ibapah

IBAPAH, UTAH - More than 450 hours of volunteer work was donated toward completion of a monument dedicated here recently. The monument honors the Goshute Indian Tribe, early settlers in the area, the Deer Creek Pony Express, Overland Stage and Mail Station and the Lincoln Highway.

The monument contains four plaques with illustrations recognizing the accomplishments of those involved in the four areas.

Pres. Milton Hardman, president of the Ibapah Branch, and Kyle Bateman, a counselor in the branch presidency, headed a committee that was assisted by many others and various organizations.

Ibapah's strategic location near the Utah border in the west desert placed it near historic efforts in the 19th century to provide communication and transportation across the continent.

These professional musicians are members of the Church in either the Neubrandenburg District or Germany Berlin Stake.

Through donations and support of sponsors, more than $6,000 was raised. More than 400 attended the concert, including the mayor of Neubrandenburg, the president of the city state, 20 representatives of the major political parties and representatives from the Association for the Handicapped.
