The First Presidency has announced that IAN D. SWANNEY, president of the London Temple, will be transferred to become president of the new Preston England Temple. Called to succeed him as president of the London Temple will be PETER LEONARD MORLEY, currently serving as first counselor in the London Temple presidency. The calls will be effective April 1.
Pres. Swanney, 64, York 2nd Ward, England Leeds Stake, was called as president of the London Temple in 1996. His wife, Anne Swanney, will serve as matron of the Preston temple. (Their biography and photo were published in the Church News on June 22, 1996.)Pres. Morley, 73, Warrick Branch, England Coventry Stake, is a former regional representative. His wife, Lilian Rowlands Morley, will serve as temple matron. Pres. Morley has also served as executive secretary to the area presidency, stake president, high councilor and bishop. He is former manager of the Church's area office materials management. He was born in Stockport, Cheshire, England, to Leonard and Winifred Emily Holdsworth Morley. Sister Morley served as stake Relief Society president, ward Young Women and Primary president and was a seminary teacher for 10 years.
