70 attend Young Women camp
SANTIAGO CHILE
"Turning the Hearts of the Family" was the theme of the first Young Women camp held in the Chile Area. The recent camp was held at an outdoor site in San Felipe and Llay Llay in the La Pirca sector near this city. More than 70 young women and their leaders enjoyed camping and learning outdoor skills and crafts, and the Young Woman values. The event was held primarily to train new camp directors, said Eliana Obregon, camp director. The newly trained directors are now preparing to hold Young Women camp experiences for their own wards and stakes next year.
The Chile Area presidency is encouraging all the wards and stakes and branches and districts in the area to be involved in a Young Women camp in 1999.

Fair attracts 14,000
TAMPA, FLA. - For the second year in a row, members of the Tampa Florida Stake worked alongside community leaders to spearhead a Good Community Fair - which attracted 14,000 people recently.
In a public park, the Tampa stake hosted "Familyland" - welcoming 40 family-oriented exhibitors, including the Boy Scouts of America, Head Start, the Children's Cancer Center, and other family and children's advocacy agencies.
In one of the Church's displays, members introduced several community leaders to the Church's concept of welfare, helping them dry pack 1,000 pounds of rice and beans for a humanitarian food order donated to Metropolitan Ministries.
A second Church display was patterned after family home evening. Members interacted with parents and children in interesting games and gave away several dozen family home evening manuals. The display focused on the idea that families can be together forever and that the Church has fun, effective ideas to build strong families.

Youth hold clothing drive
LAS VEGAS, NEV. - Youth of the Las Vegas 6th Ward, Las Vegas Nevada Stake, selected a home for neglected or abused children in which to render service this year.
They recently held a clothing drive for the children, who live at Child Haven. They sorted and organized the clothing. By the end of the evening the youth had collected 84 boxes of good, clean clothing.
The manager of Child Haven, Peggy Leavitt, wrote a thank-you note to the ward. She said the care givers were "amazed at the amount of clothing that [the youth] were able to collect." She continued that "even more helpful was the excellent way you sorted and boxed the clothing."
