Church News: Question of the week

What was the largest stake ever in the Church?

Here's answer to week's question

The Salt Lake Stake, before it was divided in 1900, was comprised of 51 wards: 24 in Salt Lake City, and 27 beyond the city boundaries in Salt Lake County, 15 east of Jordan River and another 12 west of the river. It was not uncommon then for a ward to have as many as 1,500 members. Today, more than 200 stakes have been organized within the boundaries of the original Salt Lake stake.
