Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. - John 14:27.
My husband had a stroke that left him unable to eat or speak. For six years he was in the hospital and wasted away to almost nothing. Over and over again, I received calls from the hospital that his condition had become critical and he was near death. But with his fierce determination, and his reluctance to leave his earthly family, he always pulled through. My son had moved to Florida, had made plans to marry, and wanted me to attend his wedding.
I had my airline ticket and was to leave at 6:30 the following morning. I received a call from the hospital. My husband had pneumonia and wasn't expected to live through the day. I immediately left for the hospital to be at my husband's side. As badly as I wanted to be at my son's wedding, I felt my place was by my husband. My children tried to convince me to go ahead and attend the wedding, and they would take care of their dad. But I just couldn't leave him. I prayed to Heavenly Father most of the night for guidance and in the early morning hours I had a strong feeling that my answer was in the scriptures. In John 14:27 I found my answer. A feeling of peace and joy came over me and I felt distinctly that I was to go to the wedding. Sure enough, my children watched over their dad and he pulled through.
How grateful I was that Heavenly Father loved me enough to quiet my fears and give me a feeling of peace. - Rosetta Evans, Daytona Beach, Fla.
