James William Kuli Harris, 63, a leader of the Church in the Kingdom of Tonga, died Oct. 23, 1999, in Hawaii. At the time of his death he was serving as president of the Nuku'alofa Tonga Mu'a Stake. Pres. Harris was involved in Church education as a teacher and principal at Liahona High School in Tonga and as the CES administrator for Niue, Tonga and Kiribati. Active in government affairs, Pres. Harris served as the Tonga Director of Planning (1982-1985), Secretary of Labour, Commerce and Industries (1985-1998) and, just before his death, had been elected as the People's Representative for Parliament from Vava'u, Tonga.
