BRISBANE, Australia — Planning approval has been granted for the Brisbane Australia Temple, which will be Australia's fourth.
The new temple will be constructed on a site adjacent to a major freeway and on cliffs overlooking the Brisbane River, the Botanic Gardens and the city center. Carl Maurer, Brisbane Australia Stake president, said the Church has owned the site at Kangaroo Point — where the first stake center in Brisbane stands — for more than 40 years.
President Maurer said Queensland members are delighted an agreement could be reached between the Church, its neighbors and the Brisbane City Council.
"The Church always strives to be good neighbors," President Maurer said.
