Broadway singer and actress Kelli O’Hara will be the featured guest artist at the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra on Temple Square’s 2019 Christmas Concert. Actor Richard Thomas will be the narrator.

“Kelli O’Hara is a tour de force performer whose beautiful and versatile voice will marry perfectly with the concert’s holiday repertoire,” said Ron Jarrett, president of the Tabernacle Choir. “I also can’t wait to hear Richard Thomas narrate our Christmas story with his signature voice that will take us all back home to Walton’s Mountain.”

O’Hara has received seven Tony Award nominations and won Best Actress in a Musical in 2015 for her performance as Anna in “The King and I.” O’Hara’s performance in “The Accidental Wolf” led to an Emmy Award nomination. She also received two Grammy Award nominations for “Always” and “Wonder in the World,” her solo albums.

O’Hara made her debut on Broadway after winning the Oklahoma State Metropolitan Opera competition. Her Metropolitan Opera debut was made in “The Merry Widow” in 2015 and she has since returned as Despina in “Cosí fan tutti.”

Thomas’ leading role in “The Waltons” as John-Boy Walton won him one Emmy Award and nominations for another Emmy Award and two Golden Globe awards. He also received a Tony Award nomination in 2017 for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in “The Little Foxes.” Thomas played FBI Special Agent Frank Gaad in “The Americans” and starred in Stephen King’s “It.”

The registration period for the random selection process will be Friday, Oct. 25, at noon to Sunday, Nov. 3, at midnight, according to the Tabernacle Choir’s blog.

The 2019 concert for The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square and Bells on Temple Square is set to run Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12–14, at 8 p.m. in the Conference Center on Temple Square in Salt Lake City.

Those who want to be in consideration for tickets need to have a My Temple Square Tickets account with complete information, including the confirmation email, and then register for the random selection. To register for My Temple Square Tickets, go to “My Temple Square Tickets” on the Church’s events page.

Registration is limited to once per household and, to keep selections completely equal, early registration will not increase the chances of being selected. The results of the random selection will be communicated to all who registered. Tickets will be distributed to recipients’ My Temple Square Tickets accounts for those who are selected. The Event Services Ticket Office will use random selection to distribute tickets in an effort to give individuals equal chances for tickets.
