Video: How Southeast Asia Latter-day Saints are destined to be a force for good

President Russell M. Nelson and Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles just wrapped up their ministry to Southeast Asia.

During their visits in Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore and Indonesia, President Nelson and Elder Christofferson expressed their faith in the Latter-day Saints in each country and how they would help the Church grow.

"I think it was a particularly significant message at this point to have the President of the Church come see a relatively small group and by his presence say, 'You matter. You're in our hearts, you're in our minds, in our prayers. The Lord is mindful of you. And we're mindful of you,'" Elder Christofferson said in a Church News video. "This is maybe a tender time, a new beginning for the Church here, but it will grow. It will be strong."

Elder Christofferson added that the Latter-day Saints in Southeast Asia are key to moving the work of the Lord forward.

"I think this is destined to be a force in the Church and the gathering of Israel and the whole Latter-day work of the Lord," he said. "The Lord really is mindful of the members of the Church here. They are critical to the future. They are pioneers. And they have a particular place, I think, in His heart and in His mind."

President Nelson noted how capable the members of the Church in Southeast Asia are and that there are exciting times ahead.

"We know these people, we love them, and we feel for them when they have pain, and we rejoice with them when they have joy," said President Nelson. "This is His work, and He's directing it, and we get to participate. It's pretty exciting, really."
