LDS encourage prison inmates to trace roots

Two LDS family history center volunteers, Larry Adams and Vince Beazel, who work at the Tehachapi State Prison helped introduce a roots research program among prison inmates.

Adams and Beazel circulated copies of the U.S. Postal Service's pamphlet on introductory genealogy among the inmates and prison workers. As a result, many of the inmates are writing for information about their ancestors, said Melissa Jolley, regional public relations director. Prison officials hope the project will increase family ties.
