300-mile trip no barrier for temple-minded group

For the past three years, Wallace L. Baker and his wife, Lois, have been driving 300 miles round trip to attend the Logan Temple - twice a week.

But what is impressive about their story is that they do not come alone. They fill their van with 12 to 14 people and travel to the temple from the Declo Idaho Stake. The group leaves early, some rolling out of bed at 3:30 a.m. The last sleepy passenger is picked up by 5:30 and they are on their way. While at the temple, they each attend three ordinance sessions, either endowments, initiatory or sealings. After eating lunch, they board the van and return home.

During the last three years, more than 20,000 temple ordinance sessions have been attended by members of the "Baker" group. And more than 200 Church members have, at some time, ridden to the temple in the Baker van.

When asked if he plans to continue the twice-weekly temple treks, Baker responds with an enthusiastic "Absolutely!"
