New temple presidents

Richard D. Allred, 57, a retired Air Force officer and former mission president in Guatemala, called as president of the Guatemala City Temple, succeeding E. Leroy Hatch. His wife, Gay Banner Allred, will be temple matron. Pres. Allred is a high councilor in the San Antonio East Texas Stake and vice president and chief executive officer of a San Antonio-based company. He served a mission to Mexico, and has been a bishop, stake mission president, director of a missionary training center, and regional representative. Sister Allred has served as ward and stake Relief Society president, Young Women president, Primary president, and accompanied her husband on two missions to Guatemala. Parents of three sons.

Dorman H. Baird, 67, president of the Ogden Utah Canyon View Stake and former Ogden city councilman for six years, called as president of the Ogden Temple, succeeding Pres. E. LaMar Buckner. His wife, Lenora Lundahl Baird, will serve as temple matron. Pres. Baird, a retired branch chief at the U.S. Defense Depot in Ogden, Utah, has served as temple ordinance worker, counselor in two stake presidencies, on various high councils, as bishop, and as bishop's counselor. The couple filled a mission in the Dominican Republic in 1984-85. Sister Baird has served as temple ordinance worker, in a stake Primary presidency, in ward and stake MIA, and as a teacher in the auxiliaries. Parents of three children.

Donald W. Cummings, 60, counselor in the Sydney Australia Temple presidency and a justice of the peace, called as president of the Sydney Australia Temple, succeeding Pres. Stanley O. Gray. His wife, Margaret Amy Oliver Cummings, will be temple matron. Pres. Cummings retired this year as chief executive of Housing Industry Association for South Australia. He has served as district president, bishop, high councilor, stake president, and regional representative. Sister Cummings has served as gospel doctrine teacher, ward and stake Relief Society president, ward Primary president, stake music chairman and second assistant matron. Parents of five children.

Ivan V. Miller, 72, a former stake president, called as president of the Logan Temple, succeeding Pres. George C. Ficklin. His wife, Ruth Maurine Nelson Miller, will be temple matron. Pres. Miller is a retired manager of a meat packing company in Hyrum, Utah, and former mayor of Hyrum. He served as bishop twice, high councilor, and first and second counselor in a stake presidency. The couple recently returned from a full-time service in the England London South Mission. Sister Miller has taught in the auxiliaries, and served as ward Primary president, and as ward and stake Relief Society president. Parents of six children.

Veigh J. Nielson, 69, a director of BYU's International Student Programs, called as president of the Dallas Texas Temple, succeeding Pres. Robert L. McCook Jr. His wife, Janet Moyle Nielson, will be temple matron. Pres. Nielson is a former petroleum company executive now serving as a temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple. He has served as branch president, stake president's counselor, stake president, regional representative and mission president. He served in the Navy during World War II. Sister Nielson has served as Primary and Relief Society president, Relief Society stake board member and served with her husband in the England Coventry Mission. Parents of six children.

C. Gayle Williams, 71, a retired loan officer in the Farm Credit Administration, called as president of the Idaho Falls Temple, succeeding Pres. Milton A. Romrell. His wife, Ruby Holloway Williams, will serve as temple matron. Pres. Williams served in the Navy in World War II, and later farmed in addition to his lending institution work. He has served as Scoutmaster, bishop, high councilor, stake president's counselor and stake president. The couple recently returned from an 18-month mission in Leeds, England. Sister Williams has served in the Primary, Young Women and in ward and stake Relief Society presidencies. Parents of three children.
