The First Presidency Christmas Devotional, a meeting in which the entire family is invited to participate, will be held Dec. 2.
Originating from the Tabernacle on Temple Square, the devotional will be telecast over the Church satellite network at 6 p.m. (MST), and will be rebroadcast over the network at 8 p.m. It will also be broadcast at 8 p.m. over KBYU-TV, channel 11.The devotional will feature Christmas messages from the First Presidency and music by the Tabernacle Choir.
Attendance in the Tabernacle will be by ticket only.
The program has been scheduled early in the Christmas season so it can be videotaped for use at a later time if that better suits local needs, said President Howard W. Hunter of the Council of the Twelve in a letter to Church leaders.
Local leaders may use all or portions of the devotional with local Christmas programs, the letter states. Members are encouraged to invite non-member friends and neighbors to enjoy the special devotional.
"We pray that this devotional will increase our spiritual awareness this Christmas season and that it will help all of us to better follow Him whose birth we celebrate," President Hunter said.
The devotional will be telecast to some 3,000 meetinghouses in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Haiti, the West Indies and the Dominican Republic.
