KBYU-TV, along with PBS, has switched satellite feed service from Weststar 4 to Spacenet 1, reported Lynn Edwards, KBYU-TV director of engineering.
"We had to repoint the satellite dish because PBS had to move its programming to a different satellite. The satellite that was being used was almost out of fuel and would have been inoperative by the end of 1991," Edwards said. The fuel is used to power motors that keep the satellite in its proper orbit.
The task of repositioning the satellite dish was accomplished with no interruption to programming.
As of Jan. 3, PBS satellite users need to repoint their home satellite dishes from Weststar 4, channels 15 and 17, to Spacenet 1, channels 23A, 5B, 3C and 9D.
