The Monday following the publication of a special Church News edition memorializing President Howard W. Hunter, a youthful acquaintance of one of the Church News staff writers stopped by the lobby while running errands. While he spoke with his staff-member friend concerning the recent changes in Church leadership, he mentioned that he hadn't been able to pick up a copy of the March 11 edition about President Hunter due to his own impoverished circumstances.
Another young man who was standing at the lobby window purchasing copies of the same Church News special edition overheard the comment and asked the receptionist for another copy in addition to the three he already had paid for.She obliged. He handed her the money for the extra issue and then quickly put it in the hands of the wishful youth.
Before a "thank you" could even be offered, he bounded down the stairs and out the front door.
It was a nice, small example of kindness - in keeping with the example and admonitions of President Howard W. Hunter.
