New stake presidencies

Three new stakes have been created in Thailand, Arizona and Utah.

The Bangkok Thailand Stake was created by Elder Neal A. Maxwell of the Quorum of the Twelve. The new stake includes the Asoke, Bangkapi, Bangkhen, Bangnaa, and Thonburi wards, and the Bangkok (English), Chonburi, and Lopburi branches.The Layton Utah Kays Creek Stake, which includes the Canyon Rim, Country Oaks, Dawson Hollow, Kays Creek 2nd, Snow Canyon and Valley View wards, was created by Elder Henry B. Eyring of the Quorum of the Twelve.

The Tuba City Arizona Stake was created by Elder Gene R. Cook of the Seventy. The new stake includes the Kayenta 1st, 2nd, and Tuba 1st and 2nd wards, and the Cameron, Chilchinbito, Dennehotso, Polacca, and Red Lake branches.

Elsewhere, stakes were reorganized in New Zealand and the Philippines, and in Arizona, New York and Utah.

BANGKOK THAILAND STAKE: (June 18, 1995) Created from the Bangkok Thailand District. President - Thipparad Kitsaward, 52, owner of car maintenance store, former mission president's counselor, district president and counselor, and branch president, married Buathong Konamsay. Counselors - Suchad Chaichana, 39, country director for the Church Educational System, former mission president's counselor and branch president, married Udomlak Rithikupt; Seksan Siriphan, 35, translator for Presiding Bishopric's Office, former district president's counselor, branch president, and branch elders quorum president, married Sasithorn Charoensiriwat.

LAYTON UTAH KAYS CREEK STAKE: (June 11, 1995) Created from the Layton Utah East and Layton Utah North stakes. President - Stephen G. Handy, 44, director of marketing for Deseret News, former stake president, bishop and counselor, ward clerk, elders quorum president's counselor, and Young Men president, married Holly Rae Bushnell. Counselors - Craig J. McMillan, 44, funeral director and general manager for a mortuary, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop, and Young Men president, married Pauline Beth Waind; William A. Luce, 48, partner in consulting engineers firm, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop's counselor, and elders quorum president, married Evelyn Ashcroft.

TUBA CITY ARIZONA STAKE: (June 25, 1995) Created from the Chinle Arizona Stake. President - Edwin I. Tano, 52, dean of students and football coach at Monument Valley High School, former stake president, high councilor, bishop, elders quorum president's counselor, and gospel doctrine teacher, married Sarah Singer. Counselors - Kee H. Holiday, 40, tipple laborer for the Peabody Coal Co., former high councilor, and bishop and counselor, married Rosita Tsosie; Larry J. Justice, 36, owner and operator of Pizza Edge, former bishop's counselor, membership clerk, executive secretary, and elders quorum president's counselor, married Diane Orrock.
