First Presidency announces new area authorities

The First Presidency announced this week that seven brethren have been called to serve as area authorities. The new area authorities are:

Norman C. Boehm, 58, of the Fair Oaks 1st Ward, Fair Oaks California Stake, executive director of the California Commission of Peace Office Standards and Training. Former regional representative, stake president, bishop, Young Men president. Bachelor's degree, BYU; master's degree, University of Southern California; and doctorate in government, Claremont Graduate School. Wife, Evelyn Jensen Boehm, four children. Assigned to North America West Area.Rene Juan Cabrera, 44, Miraflores Ward, La Paz Bolivia Mira Flores Stake, regional manager of Church area office. Former president of the Peru Trujillo Mission, mission president's counselor, high councilor, bishop, elders quorum president. Bachelor's degree, Miguel de Cervantes; architecture degree, University of Mayo de San Andres. Wife, Teresa Perales de Cabrera, two children. Assigned to the South America North Area.

Duane B. Gerrard, 57, Kaysville 12th Ward, Kaysville Utah Crestwood Stake, system manager of flight safety for Delta Airlines. Former regional representative, stake president, high councilor, bishop, and elders quorum president. Bachelor's degree, Utah State University; engineering degree, University of Hawaii; aviation safety, University of Southern California. Wife, Kay Bennion Gerrard, eight children. Assigned to Utah North Area.

Esteban Guevara Landeros, 42, Modelo 2nd Ward, Monterrey Mexico Valle Verde Stake, Nuevo Leon State technical coordinator/annual reports. Former stake president, bishop, high priests group leader. Master's of Business Administration, local university. Wife, Juliana Luna Avila de Guevara, four children. Assigned to Mexico North Area.

James S. Olson, 49, Huntsville 1st Ward, College Station Texas, professor of history and head of history department, Sam Houston State University. Former regional representative, stake president and counselor, high councilor and bishop. Bachelor's degree, BYU; Ph.D., State University of New York. Wife, Judith Elaine Mehr Olson, four children. Assigned to the North America Southwest Area.

Michael T. Robinson, 50, Central Point Ward, Central Point Oregon Stake, family practice physician. Former stake president, mission president's counselor, high councilor, bishop's counselor.
