Church-sponsored sports, recreation, and health and fitness activities serve individuals, families, wards, and stakes. Such activities can make positive contributions to the lives of Church members.
These activities provide families and individuals with many real-life settings in which to apply gospel principles. They help members develop unity, cooperation, discipline, sportsmanship, physical skills, and better health and fitness. Members are encouraged to participate in sports, recreation, and health and fitness activities that meet their capabilities, interests, and needs. In all such activities, gospel principles should be taught and Church standards should be required.
