"Drinking and Driving," a 30-minute public service radio program from the Times and Seasons series has won a Utah Excellence in Journalism Award from the Society of Professional Journalists.
The Church-produced program was voted first place in the 1996 radio documentaries/series/special projects category." `Drinking and Driving' gives listeners important information on the dangers of getting behind the wheel of a car under the influence of alcohol," said L. Gerry Pond, executive producer of the Times and Seasons series. "It is appropriate for the Latter-day Saints to produce such a program not just because of our beliefs regarding alcohol and other dangerous substances, but also because there is such a need for programming of this nature.
Since 1988, the Times and Seasons series has been broadcast on more than 1,000 radio stations throughout the nation.
