  • A throng of Saints on the Temple Square grounds surrounding the Tabernacle comfortably joined in the spirit of the final session of general conference. In addition to hearing the proceedings through outside loud speakers, those gathered on the grounds had access to some of the flavor from inside the building because the Tabernacle doors were open wide to provide air circulation on an afternoon with unseasonably warm temperatures in the 80s.

President Thomas S. Monson conducted the session. Music was provided by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir under the direction of Jerold Ottley with Clay Christiansen at the organ. The choir sang "How Wondrous and Great," "Sabbath Day," and "I Believe in Christ." The intermediate hymn was "Redeemer of Israel."

Prayers were given by Elder Sheldon F. Child and Elder W. Craig Zwick, both of the Seventy.
