But behold, verily, verily, I say unto you that mine eyes are upon you. I am in your midst and ye cannot see me; . . .
Wherefore, gird up your loins and be prepared. Behold, the kingdom is yours, and the enemy shall not overcome. - D&C 38:7, 9.
My husband was transferred a year ago to the place where we now live. We moved a long way from our dear friends and from a ward where I grew up. We moved to a new town where I found that speaking English was in the minority. We had been here only two weeks when my husband was called out of town on business. I was feeling extremely lonely and homesick. I poured out my feelings to our Heavenly Father as I was sick at heart. After a somewhat lengthy prayer, I retired to bed to read the Doctrine and Covenants for the following Sunday's Sunday School class.
When I read this scripture I knew that my Heavenly Father had heard my prayer.
As for being "prepared" in verse 9, I was not fully prepared for all the love and social invitations that we received from the members in our new ward. A year later, we are enjoying our new ward and have made dear friends. We have settled in because of them.
