According to "The Father and the Son: a Doctrinal Exposition by the First Presidency and the Twelve" issued in June 1916, Jesus Christ is referred to as "Father" in these ways:
- Under the direction of His Father, Elohim, He created heaven and earth.
- He is the "Father" of those who abide in His Gospel.
- He is the "Father" by divine investiture of authority; that is, "Jesus the Son has represented and yet represents Elohim His Father in power and authority."
