Tamber Marie Covington, a Laurel in the Oak Ridge Ward, El Dorado California Stake, was recently honored by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association by being named to the All-American First Team. She set the Northern California Junior Varsity record for the 100-yard breaststroke during the San Joaquin Section Championship with a time of 1:05.30. She has also competed in the Speedo Junior National Swimming Championships and the Senior Nationals in Fresno, Calif.
Irene Day Feulner of the Hunter 20th Ward, Salt Lake Hunter West Stake, celebrated her 101st birthday on Nov. 20. She was born in 1897 in Hunter, Utah, and has been a life-long resident of the area. She married Emil Feulner in the Salt Lake Temple on May 21, 1919. He died Aug. 18, 1974. She continues to be an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the Flora Culture Garden Club. She raised four daughters and three sons, and has 32 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Atella Wiltbank Haws celebrated her 100th birthday Nov. 29. She was born in 1898 and still enjoys playing Scrabble with visitors, and making quilts for babies born in the community. Her posterity includes five children, 27 grandchildren, 189 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She is a member of the Eagar 4th Ward, Eagar Arizona Stake.
Blanche Lewis, who was born in Fruitland, N.M., in 1898, celebrated her 100th birthday Dec. 22. She married Jesse Lewis and raised eight children. Her advice to children and youth who come to play Chinese Checkers with her is to "remember who you are." She finds joy in singing, and is determined to keep a current temple recommend. She is a member of the Ramah 1st Ward, Gallup New Mexico Stake, and has more than 40 great-great-grandchildren.
Adam Mack, an 18-year-old freshman at Ricks College from Blue Springs, Mo., was honored by the state of Missouri for being a role model to the youth of his state. He was originally recognized as the Outstanding Youth of Kansas City by the Youth Recognition Board of the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast Committee. He is from the Blue Springs 1st Ward, Kansas City Missouri Stake.
