Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Their assignments will be announced later. Here are their names and biographical information:
Carol and Eldon Daniel Bowen
Eldon Daniel Bowen, 65, Pocatello 1st Ward, Pocatello Idaho Highland Stake; recently returned with his wife from missionary service to Southeast Asia Area, former Sunday School gospel doctrine teacher, stake president and counselor, high councilor and bishop; retired president/CEO of Bowen Petroleum, received bachelor's degree in accounting from Utah State University; born in Burley, Idaho, to Daniel and Ida Eliza Tueller Bowen; married Carol Maree James; five children. She served as a missionary with husband, former ward organist, stake and ward Relief Society president; studied business at Boise Junior College; born in Logan, Utah, to David Wilmer and Irva Price James.
Lynette and Shayne Martell Bowen
Shayne Martell Bowen, 45, Brentwood Ward, Idaho Falls Idaho West Stake; high priests group instructor; former stake president, high councilor, bishop, elders quorum president and counselor, Varsity Scout leader, and missionary in Chile Santiago Mission; owner of Bowen Insurance Inc.; received bachelor's degree in English at BYU and certifications as chartered life underwriter and chartered financial consultant at American College; born in Rigby, Idaho, to Lyle and Jacqueline Neeley Bowen; married Lynette Mortensen; seven children. She is a ward Young Women president; former ward music chairman, choir director, Cub Scout den leader, nursery leader, Relief Society spiritual living teacher, member of ward Primary presidency, member of stake Young Women presidency, ward Young Women president; received bachelor's degree in elementary education from BYU; born in Ashton, Idaho, to Max Christian and Bonnie Jean Schwendiman Mortensen.
Rex Otto and Alice Carlson
Rex Otto Carlson; 53, Vancouver 3rd Ward, Vancouver Washington Stake; high councilor; former Varsity Scout leader, stake president's counselor, bishop, elders quorum president, and missionary in Korean Mission; salesman with West Coast Beauty Supply; received MBA degree from Arizona State University; born in Burley, Idaho, to Earl H. and Leona Peterson Carlson; married Alice Pearl Gatliff; five children. Judith and Keith Reid Edwards
