POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. Young men and young women in the Powder Springs Ward, Powder Springs Georgia Stake, invited their favorite teachers to an appreciation banquet held recently in a meetinghouse here. After dinner, each student stood and introduced his or her teacher, honored because they "make learning fun."
Four area schools were represented at the banquet, three high schools and a middle school. One young woman invited her piano teacher.
During the evening, Bishop Tom Owen thanked the teachers for doing such a fine job.
Kay Moore, a teacher for the past 31 years asked if she could say a few words: "How special this is," she said. "So much of what we see on the news and in the newspapers is negative. This makes it all worthwhile. Many teachers here, including myself, have taught youth from this church over the past several years. I can honestly say I have never met a Mormon I didn't like."
