New temple president

Joseph Kay and Ida Jean Brooks

Joseph Kay Brooks, 63, Mapleton 11th Ward, Mapleton Utah North Stake, called as president of the new Montevideo Uruguay Temple. President Brooks' wife, Ida Jean Lewis Taylor Brooks, will serve as temple matron. President Brooks is a former president of the Argentina Missionary Training Center, Uruguay Montevideo Mission, and a former stake president's counselor, high councilor and bishop. He was manager of Security Operations for the Church as well as in-field service representative for the Missionary Department and special agent for the FBI. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah. He was born in St. George, Utah, to William and Juanita Leone Leavitt Brooks. Sister Brooks is a former Primary president and president's counselor, Relief Society president's counselor, Young Women president, ward and stake music chairman. She was born in Rock Springs, Wyo., to John W. and Grace Bernice Lewis Taylor.
