Quorum of the Twelve

"Parents should teach their children to pray. The child learns both from what the parents do and what they say."

Our goal when teaching our children to pray is for them to want God to write upon their hearts and be willing then to go and do what God asks of them.

We must serve Christ to know the Master's heart, and we must also pray that Heavenly Father will answer our prayers to our hearts as well as to our minds.

"It is possible for our children to have faith enough, from what they see us do and what we teach, that they can feel at least part of what the Savior felt as he prayed to have the strength to make his infinite sacrifice for us."

The prayers I've had answered were most clear when what I wanted was silenced by an overpowering need to know what God wanted.

"When we teach those we love that we are spirit children temporarily away from a loving Heavenly Father, we open the door of prayer to them."

The answers that remain written on my heart seem most often to be the assurances that we were on the right path.

"I testify that our Heavenly Father answers the pleadings of faithful parents to know how to teach their children to pray. I testify that because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ we can have eternal life, in families, if we honor the covenants offered in this, his true church."
