EL PASO, Texas Representatives from 31 local non-profit organizations attended a luncheon at the El Paso Mount Franklin Stake Center Oct. 13, praising the Church for the service members have rendered during the past year.
The group first met a year ago, when organization representatives were asked to fill out a form listing their needs, such as food, blood drives, clothing and volunteer service hours. Church members here responded by trying to meet some of those needs. The community organizations received food, clothing, quilts and many other things as the result of LDS-sponsored service projects, and Eagle and Laurel service projects.
During the luncheon one woman stood up and said, "I am in awe. You did so much for our organization. I thought you only served us, but I see that you served everyone else just as much."
At the end of the meeting, Stake President Keven Jensen, stood and stated, "In our Church we firmly believe that when we are in the service of our fellow being we are only in the service of our God. Thank you for letting us serve you this year."
