Community appreciates history

OREGON CITY, Ore. — Residents of Clackamas County in Oregon now have available to them a three-volume history of the community of Elwood, thanks to the efforts of a local member. Joan Chelson, director of media relations for the Oregon City Oregon Stake, presented the history to the Clackamas County Family History Society Oct. 23 during the society's monthly meeting.

Sister Chelson's research began with the recent "Neighbor to Neighbor Service Day" conducted by Church members here. The stake project included painting a one-room school house that served Elwood until 1948, and clearing shrubbery and grass from grave markers at Mountain Home Cemetery.

The three-volume history includes a list of the names of all known burials at the cemetery. Copies of the list will also be donated to local county libraries.
