The following changes were made during the 171st Semiannual General Conference Oct. 6-7, 2001:

  • Elder Charles Didier and Elder Cecil O. Samuelson Jr. were sustained to the Presidency of the Seventy, succeeding Elders Elder L. Aldin Porter and Elder Marlin K. Jensen. (See page 4.)
  • Releases were extended to five members of the First Quorum of the Seventy. (See page 4.)
  • Releases were extended to four members of the Second Quorum of the Seventy. (See page 4.)
  • Sustained as general president of the Young Men was Elder F. Melvin Hammond, with counselors Elder Glenn L. Pace and Elder Spencer J. Condie. (See page 4.)
  • Sustained as general president of the Sunday School was Elder Cecil O. Samuelson Jr. of the Presidency of the Seventy, with counselors Elder John H. Groberg and Elder Richard J. Maynes. (See page 4.)
  • Three new Area Authority Seventies were sustained. (See page 4.)
  • Twenty-four brethren were released as Area Authority Seventies. (See page 4.)
  • New achievement program for Aaronic Priesthood explained. (See page 15.)
