Government leaders recognized

APIA, Samoa — Church members honored Samoa's government and community leaders this month with the family values award given during a dinner hosted by the Pesega Samoa Stake.

The Prime Minister of Samoa, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi; Mataia Visesio Europa of the Council of Deputies; Faumuina Anapapa, a member of Parliament and Paramount Chief; and the Rev. Oka Fauolo, President of the Council of Churches in Samoa, — along with their wives — were recognized.

The dinner followed the turning on of the Christmas lights on the Apia Samoa Temple grounds, during which the prime minister was also the guest speaker. In his remarks he thanked the Church for being an example for others to follow.

The Rev. Oka Fauolo spoke on behalf of the guests and thanked the Church for the award in honoring family values.
