Ground broken for new building

PHILADELPHIA, PA. — On a blustery afternoon Dec. 16, Bishop Charles Maurer and a crowd of members participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Pennypack Ward chapel in the northeastern section of Philadelphia, one of the cities Joseph Smith preached in.

The building, to be completed by the end of 2002, will be the first fully traditional LDS meetinghouse constructed in Philadelphia to house one of the many Philadelphia area congregations.
